Update in brief....Mon 10 Mar 2003It's been a good few weeks since I've been back in blighty and things have been pretty hectic ever since. Now that I've finally got over a serious case of jetlag...AND a hideous cold - all I can say is..BWOY! - What a trip! It was sun, fun, blue skies, friendly people, big smiles and funky music all the way (even with that jazzy gooner PETERSON in tow (Ha Ha!). But before I try and recollect some of those hazy moments downunder (I'll have it completed in a day or so) - let me quickly update you on what's been 'appening roun' ya so....
NEWS IN BRIEF.....
If you are considering flying on VIRGIN AIRLINES in about a month's time - then you'll have at least TWO more good reasons to do so now. Not only can you tune into a special Good Times INFLIGHT RADIO show - you will now also be able to watch the GT MOVIE as well. VIRGIN will be exclusively screening the GOOD TIMES FILM in it's entirety on ALL of their flights WORLDWIDE throughout the month of APRIL. And if you happen to travel on their TRAINS as well - you might also discover that you can hear a G45 show on there too! It sounds like maybe RICHARD's company (Virgin) are more than a bit partial to the GT vibe (Ha Ha!) The producers of the film were as surprised as I was when they were recently contacted out of the blue by the said airline seeking permission to screen the film as part of their progressive inflight entertainment policy. More power to them I say. So if you haven't seen it already - then catch it a 'mile high' on VIRGIN! Drop us a line on the film forum with your thoughts when you've seen it...and while I'm at it - the dvd version IS ompatable in AU & NZ (so there!)
GOOD TIMES III - YESSSSS!
Well at long last - it's finally happening - and now it's OFFICIAL! - after almost a TWO year hiatus - the long awaited GOOD TIMES 3 has now been SIGNED,SEALED but WON'T be delivered until AUGUST (in time for this year's carnival hopefully). That's because I recently signed a 2 ALBUM deal with REACT RECORDS here in the uk. I'm currently in the process of compiling the track listings at the moment and if we manage to get clearance of some of the gems I want to include - this double CD package will surpass even the previous two releases in terms of quality and content - TRUSS!!! I know, I know - it will be a HARD act to follow but I'm working on it.
As much as possible, this forthcoming CD will be as TRUE to the original spirit of GOOD TIMES as were the previous two. The other album will be a first for me also. I'd given a lot of thought over the years to the commercial viability of an album like this and after litterally months of deliberation and soul searching - feel the demand for something like this really IS out there (somewhere) - I've decided to do a GIANT 45 RADIO ALBUM as well.
Where GT3 will continue in a similar vein as it's hugely successfull and critically acclaimed (Nuphonic) predecessors - THIS compilation will hopefully be more of a reflection of the radio show itself - containing as much as is possible - the distinctive VIBE of the show. I'm looking to include some down tempo and chilled out funky tracks that I play/have played on the show in recent years on one CD - with a current funky house mix on the other. If all goes according to plan - this should hopefully see a uk release sometime during APRIL / MAY.
Like the above CD - no tentative tracklistings are available just yet (still awaiting clearance on most of them as I write) but they will BOTH be up to the very high standard you have come to expect from me (oh dear - now I've put my foot in it - gulp!)
