MASTERED...!!!
Fri 20 Jun 2003 Hi everyone! It's been a BIG week for yours truly - especially today. I've just finished mastering GOOD TIMES 3 (SSSHHHH!!!!) and it's sounding absolutley awesome!! Can't divulge (don't want to more like) the full tracklisting just yet (he he) cos I don't want to be giving away any clues about the couple of 'rare as hens teeth' exclusives I've managed to secure for it. But one thing's for certain tho - YOU will be the first know... The release date for the double CD has been scheduled for 18th AUGUST - the week BEFORE carnival and there WILL be some promo vinyls flying around as well...more news nearer release date... Da MAN... I've also just completed a 4 part documentary type radio series for BBC RADIO 2 about the singly most successful music producer ever! - the legendary QUINCY JONES. He has given a remarkably frank and revealing insight into his extraordinary career and professional relationships in a series of exclusive interviews with Radio 2. I will be presenting the hour long programmes which are due to be broadcast later this month (June). In the programmes Quincy talks about his humble beginings as a poor struggling teenage jazz musician and big band leader during the 1940's and 50's. He also enlightens us on his work with some of the jazz greats (BASIE, FITZGERALD, DAVIS), his loves, his near fatal illness, his many film and tv soundtracks (THE ITALIAN JOB, COLOUR PURPLE) and of course his absolutely groundbreaking work with MICHAEL JACKSON during the late 70's and early 80's. It's absolutely riveting stuff so try to catch it if you can. I don't have precise broadcast details just yet (these type of docu music programmes usually go out on a saturday night around 9.00pm) but keep checking my radio page or check the beeb radio 2 website for details... I'm still NOT over it yet... some b'stard stole my car from right OUTSIDE my house the other week (I couldn't believe it!). In the early hours of monday morning (2nd June) someone took my prized black MINI COOPER 'S' Mk2 (1960's lookalike) registration number TMD 15Y. I'm absolutely GUTTED!! Whoever dared perpetrate this dastardly deed was probably a 'professional' as the car was silently pushed away from my drive approximately one hundred metres up the road before being 'hot wired' and driven off.. He's quite a distinctive looking 'mota' complete with obligatory 'S' twin (petrol) tanks, genuine 10" 'Minilite' wheels, nudge bars, rare John Cooper 'motalita' steering wheel and sunroof (pure 'Italian Job') - VERY collectable and valuable. It's been in my family for many years and it's theft is literally 'doing our heads in'. So if you happen to see it about (anywhere in the uk) - please get in touch. ANY info leading to it's recovery (or apprehension of said tosser who took it) will be GREATLY appreciated. Please keep an eye out for him eh? ... cheers! Norman Jay MBE
